My Fiancé Has a Craigslist Casual Encounters Problem

Dear Judge Mental Jones,

My fiancé and I have been together 5 years. One day he left his email open and it was inundated with random Craigslist emails. I clicked and found out that he’s been hooking up with RANDOM STRANGERS while I’m at work, IN OUR HOME, through the “Casual Encounters”. We have a $100,000 wedding in a few months and everyone we love would want a reason for cancelling. I’m staying at my mom’s house- but I’m too embarrassed to tell the rest of my family of friends. HELP!!

Dear My Fiancé Has A Craigslist Casual Encounter Problem,

Girl, you better burn that man’s clothes, post the convo screenshots online (so he has EVERYONE to explain himself to- instead of YOU explaining it. No therapy will undo that betrayal. DO NOT allow him access to you (seeing or speaking). This free gigolo has been operating under your TRUST, which is now obliterated.

The devil in me says have sex with as many people as you can. His friends, if possible. The Best Man, ideally. I say keep the wedding as a party. Marry yourself. Then show up with a better looking REAL gigolo. The best revenge is living well. Then get therapy and some new headshots. Staying with him will only create paranoia in you.

Now the angel in me says to leave him too. However, we can at least try and understand that your fiance may have a sex addiction. If he does have a sex addiction, this will be a lifelong battle for him, and you should encourage him to get the help he needs, but at the same time, don’t give him hope that you’ll be staying as well. This isn’t to say that you should leave all addicts. I’m just saying that when you’re a drug addict, he’s just hurting himself. When you’re a sex addict, and he’s cheated on you, that’s hurting you too.

When trust is gone, it’s gone forever in my books. But I’m a vengeful asshole, so what do I know?
