Anxiety Man

Our Ghosts & Demons & Shadows! Oh My! Contest was quite a success, and the below entry was one of the most interesting ones we received.

We asked the community to choose to draw one of the three characters. Either a ghost, demon or a shadow and in our minds, we never thought that you would want to, or could draw all of them together. And that’s just what a person that went by the Handle, Anxiety Animals, did. We couldn’t have been more happy about it all too.

He titled his work Anxiety Man battles The Shadow of Self Hate, The Anxiety Demon, and The Ghost of Failures Past. It represents him, as someone that battles Generalized Anxiety Disorder, and the difficulty he has dealing with all these other parts that are constantly trying to tear him down. All the while, even while battling his Generalized Anxiety, he stands tall, a superhero to himself, and he will not give up his fight.

Anxiety Animals told us that he had not held down a job for a long time and found it difficult to do so with his G.A.D. However, in the last month, he has found employment that helped him build some self-esteem, and then he made the big decision to go back to University to finish his degree starting this fall.

We couldn’t be more proud of Anxiety Animals, and we thank him for being the super hero that he drew of himself in the adorable drawing below. We hope that he’s not just an inspiration to us, but to you as well. GO ANXIETY ANIMALS!!!

Little Known Fact:

Most people trace the Superhero and their penchant for dressing in capes back to the old stories of Zorro. However, the real reason for a superhero wearing a cape is because they look so fucking cool. Case in point, have you ever seen a necktie that looks as dramatic fluttering in the wind? Didn’t think so.
