The Demon of Envy

As far as cuteness goes, The Demon Of Envy by Kate R. was one of the most adorable entries into our Ghosts & Demons & Shadows! Oh My! Contest. The eyes of green just captured the essence of what Kate wrote to us about her drawing.

“The Demon of Envy has the greenest eyes and rises from within me when any of my friends brag how great their lives are while I sit in my own murky waters being told that I’m not good enough. God how I wish I were them. Twenty four with nothing to show.”

Kate may only be twenty four but like many of us, she battles with self esteem issues. Sometimes many of us with these issues like to compare ourselves to others and that my friends is a big no no and we say that with a smile.

Comparisons get you nowhere. Why? The answer is simple. Everyone is different. Many sites have lists of why but the most important one is about your individuality and who you are. Your gifts and talents and successes and contributions and value are entirely unique to you and your purpose in this world. They can never be properly compared to anyone else. Your path is your path and you will get there in your own time. You just need to trust yourself to get there. You can control one life—yours. But when we constantly compare ourselves to others, we waste precious energy focusing on other peoples’ lives rather than our own.

And that’s all we have to say about this right now. I’m sure well have a post soon enough about how to combat this issue too. But for now, we want to thank Kate R. one more time for her lovely drawing and tackling her demon for us too.
