This post is a special one. We ran our first ever contest many weeks ago for Ghosts and Demons and Shadows! Oh My! and it was our first foray into community-based submissions. We were pretty excited over here to see what you people created, and you didn’t let us down. And don’t you worry, we’ll be launching more drawing contests soon just in case you missed this one.
We received so many beautiful, heart-wrenching, exploratory, submissions. We are beyond grateful. (If you haven’t received our thank you email, please check your junk mail.) We couldn’t have been more thrilled with the response from the community as well with all you people who voted too. It was a huge success, and it meant a lot to us.
But enough about all our thank yous and let’s get to The Demon of Psychosis and our contest winner, Dallas P.
Dallas lives in the U.K. and battles Bipolar 1/Schizoaffective Disorder, OCD, BPD, and Epilepsy. She has the extreme mood swings of Bipolar but also the experience of Psychosis, like with Schizophrenia. She told us that her brain gets muddled, and with the Mania and Hallucinations she experiences, it leaves her unable to focus. Along with her seizures from her Epilepsy, it makes it hard for Dallas to concentrate for extended periods of time. To say that Dallas doesn’t live to battle every day would be an understatement. However, Dallas battles every day. She’s a fighter.
Dallas was once a huge book worm, but when her concentration began to wane, she needed to have a new creative outlet, and thus she took up drawing amongst many other new creative hobbies.
The below drawing of ‘The Demon of Psychosis’ is Dallas P. showing us what she battles every day and at the same time, showing us that her drawing is helping her let out what is going inside her. She’s dedicated to spreading Mental Health Awareness, and we’re proud that she is our first contest winner.

One last note about Dallas. After she received her prize, a $100 Gift Card to Amazon, she immediately purchased new art supplies. Specifically, she bought a hand stamping set as she wanted to make Dog Id tags/Jewellery and hopefully she’ll share her creations with us in the future.
