So what is ‘I SING THE BODY DYSMORPHIC?’ And why should you care? Do you even know what body dysmorphia is? Lets get to that one first.
Body dysmorphic disorder (BDD) or Body Dysmorphia is an anxiety disorder that causes a person to have a distorted view of how they look and to spend a lot of time worrying about their appearance. For a better understanding of the causes, symptoms and treatments, here’s a link to the Anxiety and Depression Association of America.
Now lets go back to this video blog/art piece called I SING THE BODY DYSMORPHIC. It’s been created for you, our community, our brave souls, if you have it inside you, to open up your life to us, and write/sing about your own Body Dysmorphia. If you don’t want to do the singing part, our very own Edward Ernest will do it for you if you like. Now for the rules.
RULES TO ‘I SING THE BODY DYSMORPHIC’
First, watch this music video. It’s from the play and movie ‘FAME’ and it’s a song called ‘I Sing the Body Electric.’
Second, please read the lyrics to the below first verse of ‘I Sing the Body Electric’ to familiarize yourself with the cadence and flow.
I celebrate the me and to come
I toast to my own reunion
When I become one with the sun
I’ll look back on Mars
And I’ll burn with the fire
Of ten million stars
And in time and in time
We will all be stars
I sing the body dysmorphic
I wish the head voices were mum
I boast a stomach of ruin as I snort cocaine just to feel numb
And my chins all have chins
And those chins have kids
And they’ll all keep on staring from my Instagram vids
And in time and in time there will be more chins
And that’s it! We can’t wait to see what you make!
