Who Does So Much For Others But Never Takes Care Of Themselves?

Who does so much for others but never takes care of themselves? Anyone? I’m sure there are lots of you out there that resonate with this week’s comic.

There’s a whole tribe of us out there that were nurtured to do things for other people and sometimes to even let things slide when you really shouldn’t have. During these years, feelings get mixed in there, and many feel guilty when they don’t give a helping hand to those in needs and even to those who don’t deserve it. This type of behavior might serve you well at one point in your life, however, at some point, it all catches up to you.

As you get older, you most likely start to resent people even though you offered your help. Eventually, you become the go-to for everyone. All of a sudden it seems like you’re being bombarded by others and don’t have time to yourself. Feelings of anger and sadness become part of your life. And all through this, you have to sit back and wonder how you got here. Is this really my identity? Why am I depressed and crying alone?

Eventually, this will hurt your relationships and possibly your work life. Doing too much, getting taken advantage of and not feeling like you’re getting anything back quite frankly makes you feel terrible. And it’s all on your shoulders too and that’s the part that’s hardest to deal with. People like us let it happen even though it doesn’t feel that way.

If this resonates with you in a big way, we’re sending you massive hugs right now and want to let you know that you can change this behavior if you want. It’s all up to you.

It takes a lot of practice and baby steps. Saying no is a significant first step and dealing with guilt will be quite painful too. But the baby steps work. Little by little, it all helps. If you can afford a therapist we suggest you start. If that is out of your price range, there are places like 7cups.com and betterhelp.com online. We hope this is a start for you if you haven’t already started.

If you got through all our talking, then you finally made it to this weeks comic. We hope you resonate with it and enjoy it as much as we did making it.

If any of the above resonates with you, and you’re having one those days where you can’t get out of bed and you feel that the fire inside you is out, please do get help if you’re not getting any right now.
