Sadly, film actor Verne Troyer, who shot to stardom from his role as ‘Mini-me’ in the “Austin Powers’ film series passed away yesterday at the young age of 49-years-old.
His cause of death is not immediately known, but many are speculating that Troyer took his own life after battling with alcoholism and his personal demons. The statement announcing his death said he had undergone a “recent time of adversity.”
“Verne was also a fighter when it came to his own battles,” the statement added. “Over the years he’s struggled and won, struggled and won, struggled and fought some more, but unfortunately this time was too much. Depression and suicide are very serious issues. You never know what kind of battle someone is going through inside,” it said. “And always know, it’s never too late to reach out to someone for help.”
And unfortunately, many people on social media didn’t care to reach out to help anyone but instead used the death of Verne Troyer to make fun of his ‘dwarfism’ as if he were a punchline to a joke. But this is no joke. Verne was a human being who was battling hard every day just to try and lead a normal life, and many on social media didn’t care about that with their lack human decency in your bodies.
We will not reprint any of the jokes as we don’t want to shine a light on some of these people who might revel in the fact that they’ve been retweeted or reposted somewhere. Instead, we’d like to leave a Twitter post that reflected our own feelings on the death of Verne Troyer and the vile social media aftermath.
The “jokes” about Verne Troyer aren’t funny, they’re disgusting. Have some respect, a man has just lost his life. A family has lost a love one, and it’s a massive loss to all that loved and cared about him. Some of you should take a look in the mirror, that’s a joke right there.
