The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success by Deepak Chopra

Deepak Chopra distils universal principals for success into seven key sections and outlines how to apply them. It focuses on the fundamentals of self-awareness to leverage success.

The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success are; Pure Potentiality, Giving, Karma, The Law of Least Effort, Intention & Desire, Detachment, and Dharma.

When I first read about Dharma, I was floored. In Sanskrit, it means “Purpose in Life.” Dharma is a unique skill set that becomes your purpose in life. This was ground-breaking to me because I want to teach others what I’ve learned through trauma, error, and success. I felt like I found my purpose in this book, as though there was a reason for all of it.

This book also helped me to redesign my interpretation of reality to focus on being present. I began giving energy to the things I want, while not being attached the outcome. The quote “ whatever you put your attention on will grow stronger in your life. Whatever you take your attention away from will whither, disintegrate or disappear” reminded me to stop focusing on what I don’t want – both online and offline (read: worrying).

The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success also helped me to reframe my practical beliefs, such as money, as energy flow. The quote “ money is a symbol of the life energy we exchange and the life energy we use as a result of the service we provide the universe” really resonated with me.

It also touches on the principle of cosmic order. Sometimes it’s a blessing not to get what you want as the Universe has much bigger plans for you. As Deepak Chopra writes, “All problems contain the seed of opportunity.”

Overall, the message is to embrace uncertainty because the only thing you can control in situations is how you react to it. This book serves as a big reminder that Faith is not just for religion. It can be found in the universe and more importantly, in yourself.

Amber Adams

Amber Adams is a reformed bad bitch. After an epic meltdown shortly after college (there may have been an arrest involved...) she read "Think and Grow Rich" and decided to pivot into the Corporate world. After quitting three jobs by throwing chairs at coworkers, she was diagnosed with Manic Depression and is now living a happy and healthy life sitting on chairs instead of throwing them. She is a self-help junkie who uses humor to cope with her three drastically different sisters, her girlfriend and life in general. Amber is still definitely from an Auto City, but she also backpacked Thailand for a month once - so she has an enlightened vibe about her. But maybe that's just the meds.
