Sick and Tired of Being Sick and Tired | Day 10
Tomorrow I’m off to New York with my brother. He’s been down on himself and his self esteem is at an all time low. He’s now getting panic attacks and the frequency of them is increasing. A couple of weeks ago, I had him call an ambulance as his attack was off the charts. I listened to him have a complete breakdown on the phone and I was scared for him to get back on the road. At the hospital they told him he had a psychotic episode and instead of waiting around for medication or an appointment with a psychiatrist, he didn’t want to wait and left. That was frustrating. I will say that. If I had a psychotic episode, I’d want to get help but he didn’t even consider it.
I got him a Fitbit at the same time as myself and we both went in opposite directions immediately. I used it for good and he used it for evil. He didn’t care about the steps. He’d just look at his heart rate and then panic that it was going higher which then caused it to go higher and so on and so on and so on.
So I’m excited to take my brother on this trip as we’re going to see many shows but the one I want him to see specifically is called ‘Career Suicide’ by Chris Gethard. I love his podcast ‘Beautiful Anonymous’ and I knew in my heart of hearts that he would rub off on my brother and myself too.
Another thing about New York, I know I’m going to eat poorly while I’m there. I love Katz’s Deli. I love New York Pizza. My brother isn’t on the same diet as me. Going to New York on vacation on not taking advantage of your favourite places is like going to Disney World and not going on any rides. This is not going to be easy.
The one healthy thing that we will be doing is a lot of walking. Unless it’s too cold. That’s the one thing I have in the back pocket.
Now with all that being said. In anticipation of leaving tomorrow, I did the usual running in the morning and then walking to and from work. I also did a night walk too. You’ll also see below that I didn’t have a ton of caloric intake today. Mainly because of what I’m expecting over the next few days. Which is a massive falling off the wagon.
I love shitty food. I just do. It tastes so good. The look of it. The touch of it. The smell of it. I’m a burger, fries and pizza kinda guy. And when I eat a pizza, I eat the whole fucking pizza. Nothing is more satisfying than eating a whole pizza. I LOVE it. I don’t feel gross doing it either. In fact, usually when I’m done, I could still eat more pizza.
New York isn’t going to be easy. Last thing that I forgot to mention. My brother is deathly afraid of flying. DEATHLY. Can’t wait!!!!!
