Sick and Tired of Being Sick and Tired | Day 18

My day started out much like yesterday, with a text to my old friend, just to see how he was holding up. He described the finality of his mother passing away and how it finally hit him. In the last 5 years of her life, he was not just her son, but also her caregiver. He was not a passive child like ones you see today who might hire someone to help do the heavy lifting. He and his brother were by her side the whole way. He knew his mother was done living. She told him that her quality of life had no more quality to it, and before she lay there in a comatose state, she said that she had no more will to live.

It’s not easy to hear these words from the strongest person in your life.

It’s devastating.

His heart hurt, but his brain understood. She was proud in life and wanted to be proud in death. And I say this with a smile, stubborn until the very end.

I could go into a whole thing about my exercise today but it just doesn’t seem appropriate. You can read my stats below.

I did feel that I needed a good cry though, so I went to see the movie ‘Manchester by the Sea.’ And yeah, that was the right movie for a good old fashion sob fest. It was unbearably sad. Nothing good ever happened in this movie. It’s just full crying. You need more than kleenex for this one. You need a shamwow.

Knowing I wanted to eat tons of popcorn, as I like to eat when I’m sad (Isn’t it the best?), I did go on a huge walk to the theatre. I chose a theatre that took me 40 minutes to walk to and another 40 minutes home. The walk home was just thinking about my friend and death.

Who would show up at my funeral? What would they say? Do you ever do this? Is this egotistical of me? I’m more of a narcissist than I think I am?

Edward Ernest

Edward Ernest is pretty much the coolest guy that ever lived.......according to himself. He's one of the founders of Massivephobia.com and has zero respect from any of his colleagues. To the outside world, he's this very nice upstanding citizen, but behind closed doors he's one of the meanest people we know. Yes, he writes nice articles and gives good advice. It might even seem like he cares about you and wants to be your friend. But please, don't be fooled. We've seen him kick a dog a with a broken leg before and have heard him on the phone berating his grandmother for only giving him a $5 birthday gift. Be thankful he's not related to you.
