Not to rest on my laurels, I knew there was still a huge possibility that I wouldn’t get the new apartment so I set up a big day of seeing places and a shit ton of walking.
Nothing that I saw was pleasing to me in any way. At one point, I contemplated going to a movie even though I didn’t actually feel like seeing any movie out there as for some reason I got the smell of popcorn in my head and began to crave it.
I’ve eaten popcorn on this journey, but this one felt different. I envisioned myself at the theatre that has large refillable sizes. When I go to this cinema, I usually finish half the bag before the movie even starts and then I run to snack counter just before the film starts for a top up. This way I get maximum popcorn value for myself without missing any of the movie and hopefully avoiding a stomach ache or even diarrhea.
Yes, I am a genius. Thank you for asking.
Now back to the day. I could just feel this type of popcorn eating was in my future, and that would be 1200-1400 calories just on Popcorn. The craving was strong enough that I started walking in the direction of the theatre and then a miracle happened….. I got a phone call from my friend. It was kinda a relief as the call took my mind off the popcorn and my feet changed direction towards my parent’s house. I don’t remember much of the conversation. I could have been discussing my balls for all I know. Actually, that’s a lie. It was my friend A.M., and I listened to her sobriety struggle. It was quite a serious conversation, and at the end, she tanked me and then I thanked her for calling and explained what was going on. She giggled, and that made me laugh.
So the popcorn craving was gone by the time I got home, but I still felt like eating a lot. I couldn’t deny my craving any longer. I ordered sushi, but this time I got tempura. I made sure the place was a good walking distance away, therefore at least I burned off some of the calories on the walk.
And then I ate like a pig. I don’t think I breathed. It was just gone, and it felt glorious.
I also ended up logging 30k steps on my Fitbit. So it was actually a pretty awesome day even though I just fought my demons. Today, I won! And you can too! I have no idea what that means but it sounded good.
