Sun Goddess Smoothie Recipe

You know those days when you need to throw a bunch of healthy foods in a blender and you actually have the motivation to do so? I haven’t met many of those days recently, which is why this Sun Goddess smoothie and I are just getting to know each other. But to be honest, our chemistry is off the charts.

This smoothie is brightly coloured with all the kinds of antioxidants your body craves after you’ve had a bag of All Dressed Chips for dinner every night for a week. (Yes, I’ve been a very bad person towards my body in my most recent downturn and I’m feeling lots of shame. But I digress.)

Maybe, depending on how fancy you’re feeling, you can even put a little citrus garnish on top. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves.

This smoothie is great for when your immune system is yelling at you and you need a quick kick to the butt. To add a steel-toe to that swift punt, feel free to add some cayenne pepper for a little extra PAIN.

This recipe is great because it’s gluten free, nut free, oil free, raw, soy free, sugar free and grain free! JUST PUT IT IN YOUR BODY ALREADY!

2 medium seedless oranges

2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice

1 teaspoon grated and peeled ginger

1 to 3 teaspoons of maple syrup, or to taste

1/3 cup of ice cubes

Pinch of cayenne pepper (optional)

Or maybe throw some kale in there for some extra Nature’s Medicine.

Combine all the ingredients above in a blender and blend on high speed until you reach your desired consistency. If you prefer your smoothie room temperature, swap out the ice for water and keep blending for a little bit of heat!

And enjoy! Your body will love you for it and I’ll try and lay off the All Dressed Chips now too.
