If you thought the biggest thing that New York City Taxi Cab Drivers were protesting was Uber, then you’re wrong. They are already angry at Uber snd rightfully so, as they pay license fees and all proper taxes. Now on top of that, these angry folks grinded the pick ups at JFK airport to a standstill.
In a move of solidarity over President Trump’s Executive Orders, The New York Taxi Workers Alliance is called on its 19,000 members to observe an hour-long freeze on pickups at John F. Kennedy International Airport Saturday evening in protest President Donald Trump‘s move to halt people from seven Muslim-majority countries from entering the U.S.
the union claimed that Muslims and immigrants together make up the vast majority of its workforce, and that Trump’s anti-Muslim rhetoric could encourage acts of violence against taxi drivers.
“By sanctioning bigotry with his unconstitutional and inhumane executive order banning Muslim refugees from seven countries, the president is putting professional drivers in more danger than they have been in any time since 9/11 when hate crimes against immigrants skyrocketed,” the post read.
The union also slammed the Trump administration for what it called a “rhetoric of hate spewed from the bully pulpit” and an “unconstitutional act of pure bigotry.”
These are the folks that you take for granted. They are hard working people that came to America for a better life. To be free when they couldn’t afford the same freedom from where they came from. They’re angry and justifiably so.
And that’s why New York City Cab Drivers are The Unbalanced Being of the Day.
